More About Yogananda
Paramahamsa Yogananda was an Indian mystic and guru who “brought yoga to the West”. But not yoga as we think of it today, with exercise studios and women in stretch pants. “Yoga” actually translates to “union”. Yogananda’s teaching was about inner practices to help us make a powerful and lasting connection to God within. Union with the Divine is what Yogananda’s teaching is all about.
From the 1930’s through the early 1950’s, Yogananda brought the formerly secret meditation teachings of India to the United States. His famous book, “Autobiography of a Yogi” was the seminal publication that brought ideas many of us take for granted today, forever changing our world. In some ways, it all goes back to Yogananda!
Yogananda emphasized that his spiritual presence would continue long after his physical death. So many people have experienced him in Spirit, and you too can use this program as a way to connect and tune in to Yogananda, and receive his great wisdom and love.
A Few Yogananda Quotes:
“The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success.”
“Remain calm, serene, always in command of yourself. You will then find out how easy it is to get along.”
“The happiness of one's own heart alone cannot satisfy the soul; one must try to include, as necessary to one's own happiness, the happiness of others.”
